Problems come in sets…

Well here it is, the new year and we´ve hit a snag or two. Many have noticed and commented (Strongly in some cases) that the XMPP server at newmajik.com is down, There has even been a couple of comments on the CVS server being offline.

Well, here in lies the snags.

The folks that were sponcering our XMPP and CVS server, suddenly pulled the plug. Just like that.

Kids, we would really like to get our servers back online and continue the development of Chat Majik, but are going to need some help.

We need the donation of these server spaces.

If anyone can help us out, contact us.

Server Issues

We are experiencing some server problems, so we will be on and offline until they can be resolved. We hope to be stable in the next 24 hours agin, after moving to new hardware.

This morning, Steve and I updated the Openfire server to its latest version of 3.4.2

Take a look at its change log at IgniteRealtime

As of this morning, a valid SSL/TSL certification is running on this server. The Certificate Authorities is the XMPP Federation

The IM Gateway (a plug in used to allow interconnectivity with AIM, ICQ, MSN, etc) was updated to Version 1.2.1. (Change Log)

Username in Create new account wizard

It appears there is some confusion when entering a username in the chatmajik new account wizard. When you are entering the username you should only enter the userid and NOT the userid and server.

Example: username should be myname NOT myname@myserver.com

We have made changes to the code to make this more obvious in the next release.

It’s newer, it’s brighter, it’s cleaner and it has the known problems with the transports fixed!

I gave the colors a good going over while Steve reworked some of the code, the result is a better looking, better running XMPP chat client.

Chat-Majik 1140 is now available

Version 1.1.40 of Chat Majik is now available from the Download Page.

The new USB Stick version is actually designed to run without the need of installing the .NET framework as well as storing your data in a root folder of your USB memory device. Thus you should be able to walk up to any computer with your USB Stick and Run Chat Majik without leaving any trace on the computer.

We will be releasing the source code shortly, we are just in the process of creating a zip file of the code as well as setting up svn access.
